Moonshot AI Unveils Kimi K3: 2.8 Trillion-Parameter Model Tops Frontend Code Arena
Moonshot AI has launched Kimi K3, its most capable model to date featuring 2.8 trillion parameters and a 1 million token context window. The model has claimed the top position on the Frontend Code Arena benchmark, outperforming Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 with a score of 1679.
Beijing-based AI firm Moonshot AI (月之暗面) has officially released Kimi K3, the company's flagship large language model designed for long-range programming and comprehensive knowledge work tasks. The announcement, made on July 16, positions K3 as Moonshot's most powerful offering to date, leveraging a massive 2.8 trillion parameter architecture.
The model introduces Kimi Delta Attention, a hybrid linear attention mechanism combined with Attention Residuals technology, enabling native multimodal capabilities including vision understanding. With a context window supporting up to 1 million tokens, K3 targets complex software engineering workflows, deep reasoning scenarios, and end-to-end knowledge processing.
Performance benchmarks indicate significant competitive positioning for the new model. In the Frontend Code Arena evaluation, Kimi K3 achieved a score of 1679, securing first place ahead of Anthropic's Claude Fable 5. According to official Arena rankings, the model dominated across six of seven frontend development categories, including Brand & Marketing, Reference-based Design, Data & Analytics, Consumer Products, Simulation, and Content Creation Tools. The model placed second only in the Gaming category, where Fable 5 maintained its lead.
Commercial availability follows a token-based pricing structure through the Kimi Open Platform. Input pricing is set at 2 yuan per million tokens for cache hits and 20 yuan per million tokens for cache misses, while output generation costs 100 yuan per million tokens.
The release marks Moonshot AI's latest advancement in the frontier AI market, specifically targeting enterprise software development and complex reasoning applications requiring extended context understanding.
