Huawei, Xiaomi, and TP-Link Lead China's Router Market as Spec Upgrades Push Prices Higher in May 2026
China's online home router market saw a shift toward premium features in May 2026, with the average price reaching 255.4 yuan despite an 8.8% drop in unit sales. Huawei, Xiaomi, and TP-Link claimed the top three sales spots, according to RUNTO data.
China's home router online market recorded 872,000 units sold in May 2026, down 8.8% year-on-year, while total sales value slipped 6.7% to 220 million yuan, according to data from research firm RUNTO (洛图科技). The average retail price rose to 255.4 yuan, up 2.2% from a year earlier and 9.3% month-on-month — the highest level in recent months.
The price increase reflects consumers paying more for advanced specifications. WiFi 6, WiFi 7, 2.5G Ethernet ports, multi-gigabit access, and mesh networking capabilities are now key factors shaping purchase decisions and budgets, the report noted.
Top brands and their shares
The four largest brands together grabbed 84.3% of online sales volume, though that was down 8.3 percentage points from the same period last year, signaling more fragmentation in the market.
- Huawei held 27.6% of unit sales, retaining the top spot. Its revenue share was even higher than its volume share, indicating strong performance in mid-to-high price tiers. The AX3 Pro and BE3 Pro models were the main drivers.
- Xiaomi followed with a 20.7% volume share. While strong in the budget segment and among smart home users, its AX3000T was the single best-selling model by unit count.
- TP-Link (普联) captured 18.7% share, benefiting from a well-rounded lineup of WiFi 6 mainstream routers and new WiFi 7 products suited for home upgrades and multi-room setups.
- ZTE came in fourth with 17.3%, improving both its volume and value shares sequentially and year-on-year.
Other brands also gained ground. Tenda significantly expanded its sales volume, while ASUS and Ruijie — though smaller in share — kept clear identities in high-performance and gaming segments. This trend highlights how competition in the router market is increasingly stratified by specs, usage scenarios, and user experience.
RUNTO’s data covers major Chinese e-commerce platforms including JD.com and Tmall.
