Alibaba's Qwen AI Glasses Developed Under Same Team as Quark AI Glasses
IT Home reports that Alibaba's next-generation AI glasses will be built upon the foundation of its existing Quark AI eyewear lineup.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the development of the upcoming "Qwen AI Glasses" and the "Quark AI Glasses" is handled by the same team. Both devices share the same algorithms, hardware, and software support. While the current "Quark" series serves as the initial release, future iterations of the product line will adopt the "Qwen" branding to align with Alibaba's global AI strategy.
Alibaba has been significantly increasing its investment in AI, and the Qwen assistant is evolving rapidly. These capabilities are expected to be fully rolled out to the AI glasses platform. The Qwen App, which currently handles tasks such as food delivery and ride-hailing, will seamlessly connect to the new AI glasses, offering a hands-free experience.
The specific hardware details are based on the Quark AI Glasses G1, which was released in November 2025. The G1 features the Qualcomm AR1 and BES2800 dual flagship chips, a 272mAh battery (9 hours of battery life), 5 microphones with bone conduction pickup, and a 12-megapixel camera capable of 3K video recording.
Alibaba is set to launch the first branded "Qwen" AI glasses at the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Pre-orders are scheduled to open on March 2, 2026, via both online and offline channels.
Beyond AI glasses, Alibaba plans to release AI rings and AI earbuds this year, targeting a global market launch for these new form factors.
